Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, a presidential candidate in Nigeria's most recent general election, has once again attacked Nigerian point-of-sale (POS) operators for engaging in illicit activities in certain villages.
I woke up today sobbing uncontrollably, wondering why the majority of Nigerians are failing this nation. "Our problems will be minimal if average Nigerians stop blaming leaders and choose to be good followers ,said Ezendigbo."
Everyone has what it takes to restore our country's reputation as a place where the system does not fail its citizens.
The majority of point-of-sale operators has more access to money than individual with traceable address. At the same time, the majority of these operators have four addresses or more. Some of these operators operate in isolated locations where residents lack literacy skills and conduct illicit transactions while evading detection.
In Nigeria, POS transactions that are illegal are growing more common. According to Linda Ikeji's report on March 8, at approximately 1600 hours, a Point of Sale (POS) operator was apprehended for attempting to cheat innocent persons and was on the verge of being set on fire before being saved by MOPOL Monitoring Unit personnel.
According to Leadership Newspaper, in November of last year, the House of Representatives ordered its relevant committees to invite Yemi Cardoso, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the CEOs of all commercial banks and other financial institutions that use Point of Sale (PoS) terminals to come before them and discuss ways to solve the problems caused by the undocumented identities of PoS operators in Nigeria.
Chief CBN Onwuasoanya Ezendigbo, the founder of Better Nigeria for Better People, has once again urged the appropriate authorities to provide a long-term solution and stop the point-of-sale operators' fraudulent actions.
