Governor Ademola Adeleke has coordinated the Ministry of Works and infrastructure to forbid substantial trucks from plying the Olaiya bridge at the state capital, refering to somewhere safe and secure reasons emerging from the specialized reports on the condition of the bridge.
The governor, who presided over a meeting of the security council in Osogbo, said that the decision was necessary to keep the bridge from collapsing and to prevent anything bad from happening if heavy trucks kept coming through.
Governor Adeleke stated that the Ministry should erect barricades across the bridge to restrict traffic to only cars and buses, describing the decision as a preventative measure.
As a stage towards carrying out the mandate, the state governor likewise told the ministry to give travel advisory with radio jingles to sharpen individuals from general society and the vehicle environment.
The governor guaranteed the public that the choice was taken to safeguard general society and state resources while an enduring survey of the specialized status of the bridge is being led by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
