U.S. Decides: Elon Musk in Court Over $1m Giveaways To Registered Voters

Suit accuses Elon Musk of operating an illegal lottery and attempting to influence voters in the upcoming presidential election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

The controversial billionaire has pledged to donate $1 million (£767,000) per day to registered voters in battleground states who sign online petitions advocating for gun rights and free speech. On October 19, the first million was given to John Dreher at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

According to Forbes, Musk is the wealthiest person in the world, with a fortune of $274 billion (£210 billion). As a result, the approximately $17 million (£13 million) that he has pledged to donate is only a small portion of Musk's total wealth.

As of the middle of October, the 53-year-old had given American PAC $75 million (58 million pounds).

Additionally, the lawsuit against Musk has resulted in "an avalanche of (social media) posts from Musk's supporters," many of which "launched anti-Semitic attacks against Mr. Krasner," according to documents filed by Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. Krasner's attorneys requested increased security for the hearing, which was originally scheduled for Friday, after a user on X published the address of Krasner's residence.

In the United States, America PAC is one of several major political action committees.

As long as they don't work with or fund campaigns, these groups can support political candidates with unlimited funds raised and spent.
