Republican Regains Control Of The Senate

In addition to Donald Trump’s strong performance in the election, the GOP has regained control of the U.S. Senate.

Republicans now hold a majority after picking up key seats, including victories in Ohio and West Virginia, and defensive wins in Texas and Florida.

This Senate win gives the GOP power and a lead role in determining the next president's Cabinet, as well as filling seats on the Supreme Court if there is a vacancy.

The party will hold at least 52 seats, enough for an outright majority.

It’s not yet clear who will serve as the next Senate majority leader. Republican leader Mitch McConnell, who is the longest serving Senate leader in history, announced earlier this year that he would s

tep down.
