Gambian President Adama Barrow Begins Nationwide Presidential Tour

The nationwide presidential tour continues today as President Adama Barrow visited the Abuko Veterinary Lab, a diagnostic centre that provides testing and research facilities for livestock, poultry, and pets.
The centre aims to provide treatment solutions for veterinary-related diseases, such as foot and mouth diseases, and rabies among others. Since its establishment, the lab has diagnosed nearly 20 diseases, positively impacting both livestock and humankind. The President proceeded to a cashew processing, packaging, and marketing enterprise in Brikama, co-owned by Cashew GAM Company and Premium Commodities Company. The two enterprises benefited from the World Bank-funded GIRAV project matching grant in 2023 to purchase equipment and expand their operations, promoting economic growth and contributing to national development. Currently, the company employs 50 people and produces two metric tons per month. However, once the machines are operational, production will increase to 10 metric tons per day and the number of employees will rise to 200. The President was impressed by what he observed and encouraged them to keep contributing to the Gross Domestic Product. He reiterated his commitment to supporting and partnering with the private sector.
