Boxing Phenom Anthony Joshua Honors President Tinubu with Autographed Glove in Lagos Visit

Two-time world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence on January 1, 2025. During the meeting, Joshua presented the President with an autographed boxing glove inscribed, "To the Great Asiwaju Jagaban Borgu of Africa, Bola A Tinubu." This gesture underscores Joshua's Nigerian heritage and his respect for the nation's leadership. The visit was highlighted by Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, who shared images of the encounter on social media. Joshua's visit to President Tinubu follows his recent appointment as Ogun State's sports ambassador by Governor Dapo Abiodun. During a courtesy visit to the Government House in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun announced plans to construct a new indoor boxing ring named after Joshua, aiming to encourage his visits and promote a vibrant sports culture in the state.
